He has experienced with Nestle and Nike, makeup tour accompany of Kakuyasu Uchiide, a top make-up artist for Shu Uemura, and has been busy for Vancouver Fashion Week.
He was inspired by monochrome landscape photos by Ansel Adams or Edwards Weston who presents 1930s and decided to begin photographs. Only four years after, he was picked up on future article of a magazine. That was the first time his work had been come out to the media.
He is now well known in Manila, his home city. Gradually his interest is shifting to 3D art and he moved to Vancouver in 2004 to learn 3D technique. After completing his course at Vancouver Film School, he had 3D lighting classes there School for one year. Now he teaches photography at LaSalle College International. His 3D graphic is used in Just Leap In, the virtual life game.
Kimono Event (Shichigosan)
Shichigosan is one of Japanese traditional event. It celebrates children’s growth at the age of three, seven for girls and five for boys. This is the first shooting service for individuals. They would like to introduce this traditional event to lots of people in Vancouver since Tommy himself loves Kimono and thinks Kimono is Japanese high fashion. Eri, a Japanese manager who has an experience a kindergarten teacher in Japan, says “We would like to help children know and experience traditional event in Japan even they live in Canada.”
Package A includes Kimono rental and dressing, full shop and close-up shooting and 2 5x7” prints. When you add $100, you can use Package B (package A + photos in album + CD data). You can choose Kimono from some kinds to look your children best. This event is also held at Nikkei Heritage Centre (#100-6688 Southoaks Crescent, Burnaby) on 7th and 14th of November (Saturdays) with $50 discount when you book it in advance.
ZEN SHOT
Here is their next challenge for individual. It is called “ZEN SHOT”, the basic concept is Japanese ZEN. Tommy says “there are lots of talented people, such as makeup artist, fashion stylist and models in Vancouver. I would like to create images that show “Art and the Beauty of people” using high level lighting and photography technique.” ZEN SHOT is his original shooting style produced by the superb combination of professional makeup, hair styling and photo shooting. “ZEN SHOT shows all the charm that the person can have. We can make a photo book, and then it is suitable as a portfolio for a person who aims to be a model or actor. Also, it can be used in Facebook to let you introduce well.”
